Lapp Group Celebrates Grand Opening

Florham Park, NJ - On May 14, 2004 the Lapp Group, a worldwide manufacturer of wire, cable, connectors and accessories, hosted a Grand Opening Ceremony at their new 130,000 sq. ft. facility in Florham Park, New Jersey.

The Lapp Group world headquarters, located in Stuttgart, Germany, has over 2600 employees in 50 companies worldwide. In celebrating their new North American headquarters’ grand opening, the company hosted over 250 employees, customers, distributors, guests and members of the media.

Thomas Barmann, of Lapp Group NA, introduced the theme for the day, “Wired for Success”. Technical presentations were given during the morning session, including a speech by Morris County Freeholder, Jack Schier. A luncheon was also held in an outdoor tent. The official ceremony took place with speeches by Lapp USA President John P. Ciccone, who also read a congratulatory letter sent by New Jersey Governor James E. McGreevey. Alex Adams, a member of the Chamber of Commerce, spoke, as well as one of the principals of the company, Mr. Siegbert Lapp.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was performed by the Lapp family; Mrs. Ursula Lapp, and her sons, Mr. Siegbert Lapp and Mr. Andreas Lapp. Also present for the ribbon cutting was Siegbert Lapp’s son, Alexander Lapp.

Tours of the facility were given to the visitors. The completely renovated facility is the former home to the O’Haus Scale Company. It now houses Lapp USA, which sells and markets cable, connectors and accessories; Lapp Systems USA, a valued added service offering custom cable assemblies; Lapp Cable Works, a state-of-the-art cable manufacturing plant; and Lapp Holding NA, the financial and administration headquarters for all of the Lapp Group North America listed previously, as well as Lapp Canada, Lapp Mexico and K.L. Tannehill, an industrial distributor located in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The evening then shifted to the Brooklake Country Club of Florham Park, NJ, where a formal gala included cocktail hour and dinner, which was highlighted by a short video detailing the history of the company and a grand fireworks display outside.

The evening included additional speeches, with Mrs. Lapp, Mr. Andreas Lapp, and Mr. Siegbert Lapp addressing and thanking the guests. For more information regarding the Grand Opening, or the Lapp Group, please call 1-800-774-3539
