Designing security into our supply chain rather than mitigating the impact of disruptions is the desire of Lapp Holding, N.A.  Lapp is a global company with overseas production, and geographically dispersed supply chains.  Our strategy to handle supply chain security was simple; Lapp Holding decided to become a participant of C-TPAT.
A successful C-TPAT validation was performed by U.S. Customs in December under the direction of Lapp Holding, N.A. Quality Manager Darlene McBride and Traffic Manager Warren Hull.

Upper management at Lapp Holding N.A. examined implications for global supply chains posed by security threats in the US and elsewhere, and determined the need to become C-TPAT (Customs Trade Partnership against Terrorism) participants.   C-TPAT is a public-private partnership, which gives participants expedited cargo process exchange for tightened security and cargo tracking at points along the cargo transit and supply chain.  Lapp Holding, N.A. is working with their supply chain partners to implement best practices that are robust and tackle security issues effectively.  This strategy is similar in concept to Lapp Holding, N.A. underlying philosophy behind total quality management in their ISO9001:2000 program.
